2. LGBTOUT endorses UTSU reforms. Go to the AGM and vote yes!

This week the UTSU will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM). This AGM matters because the UTSU is now legally obligated to reform itself within a year. There is a proposed reform being voted on LGBTOUT strongly endorses. The reform would create an LGBTQ issues director, in addition to directors for issues LGBTOUT cares about such as women’s issues, racialized issues, sustainability, etc.

3. Queer Faith History Series

Queer faith “back in the day”! Queer Faith History Toronto, the fall 2014 Qu(e)erying Religion series, will profile inspiring stories from leaders in the early years of Toronto’s LGBTQ faith and spirituality groups to engage in informative, inspiring discussion. Gather. Learn. Inspire.

Our next event will be on 29 Oct from 5-7pm, including a light supper in Rm. 406, Carr Hall, St. Michael’s College. Our guests will be Rev. Dr. Brent Hawkes and Corey Betrand from MCCT and representatives (tba) from the Ismailis! All are welcome! Facebook event link:

4.LGBT Movie night

After you vote on October 27, join us for an LGBT election-themed comedy “Four More Years” and stick around to watch the votes roll in.

“Four More Years”
by Swedish director Tova Magnusson Norling.

“David Holst has been the favorite to become the next Prime Minister of Sweden. However, after a shocking turnaround at the polls, he is left on the sidelines, where he meets Martin, charming, bright, fun-loving… and the state secretary to the new Prime Minister! As David navigates a newly found sexuality and a political divide should he give up his marriage and career for a social democrat who’s had more one night stands than David’s had votes?”

6. End the Ban Campaign at U of T

The goal of the End the Ban campaign is to advocate for a blood donation policy that is based on medical evidence; that is based on sexual behaviours and not the sex of sexual partners; and that ensures the safety of the blood supply. With student engagement, we can bring about changes to the policies of Canadian Blood Services.

Help put an end the MSM blood ban by joining the End the Ban campaign at UofT! Sign up for the End the Ban listserve here for upcoming committee meetings and ways to get involved, and check out the facebook page here!
